JWD InfoLogistics Public Company Limited (JWD) announced that the Company’s growth bucked the current trend with Q1/2021 net profit of 140.8 million baht, a 50.6-percent growth over the same period of the previous year from the warehousing and hazardous cargo management, transport, logistics infrastructure management and self-storage that have grown significantly with the annual growth expected to be no less than 15-20 percent. From the second quarter onward, returns from joint venture businesses with VNS Transport Company and the increase in shareholding in JWD Asia Logistics (Cambodia) are expected to be substantial.
Dr. Eakapong Tungsrisanguan, Chief Financial Officer of JWD InfoLogistics Public Company Limited (JWD), ASEAN’s recognized expert in logistics and supply chain, revealed that the Company’s Q1/2021 performance made a new revenue record of a total of 1,147.1 million baht, an 18.7-percent increase over the same period of the previous year which was 966.1 million baht, and the net profit of 140.8 million baht, a 50.6-percent growth over a net profit of 93.5 million baht recorded in the same period of the previous year. This also means that the Company posted a 12.3 percent net profit – higher than the 9.7 percent net profit for the first quarter of last year.
The Company’s record high performance was derived from the unrelenting business expansion strategy to grow the logistics services and the integrated supply chain in the region. The businesses that grew significantly in the Q1/2021 were: (1) Warehousing and hazardous cargo management business with the “new-high” record revenue of 135.3 million baht or an increase of 10.8 percent over the same period of the previous year with the number of shipping containers carrying hazardous cargo passing in and out of Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi increasing to more than 43,200 containers, more than during Q1/2020 when the situation was not yet affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; (2) The transport business made a revenue of 130 million baht, a 21-percent increase over the same period of the previous year, as a result of the increase in the shipping of temperature-controlled cargo and express temperature-controlled cargo, cross-border transport service and project cargo service; (3) Logistics infrastructure management business with a revenue of 32.3 million baht, a 156.4-percent growth over the same period of the previous year; and (4) Self-storage business with a revenue of 12.3 million baht, an increase of 116.5 percent over the same period of the previous year. In addition, there were also businesses in foreign countries, such as Transimex in Vietnam where profit shot up 66 percent, and there was also the realization of revenue from CSLF, the food service provider business in Taiwan whose performance grew over the same period of the previous year.
Mr. Charvanin Bunditkitsada, Chairman of the Executive Committee and CEO of JWD InfoLogistics Public Company Limited (JWD), said he was confident that JWD would show strong growth this year despite the current wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, JWD’s logistics and supply chain services have not been affected while some businesses were positively impacted by the increased demand for warehousing. Therefore, the Company has set the revenue target for 2021 at a growth of no less than 15-20 percent, as beginning in Q2/2021, the Company will start to realize revenue deriving from the joint venture with VNS Transport Company which has the expertise in “milk run” transport, particularly in the transport of automotive parts and spare parts from manufacturers to vehicle assembly plants. VNS’s revenue in 2020 was more than 400 million baht with the profit of approximately 30 million baht. Following that performance, a plan was hatched to expand the transport business to cover the ASEAN region.
At the same time, JWD will also realize revenue derived from the increase in the shareholding in JWD Asia Logistics (Cambodia) from previously the share of the profit was based on the shareholding proportion. This company shows capacity to grow continuously from last year when the revenue was more than 200 million baht and a net profit of over 20 million baht. Also significant was the income from profit arising from the rental of warehouses at JWD Navanakorn to AIMIRT for a period of 30 years.
Most recently, the Company was contracted to transport COVID-19 vaccine in Cambodia, and with the expertise and experience in the transport of temperature-controlled cargo, the Company is fully ready to provide similar vaccine transport service in Thailand whenever there is an increase in the import and production of the vaccine in the near future.
“We are confident that our current business model of expanding the logistics and supply chain services network to become more diverse and integrated both domestically and abroad, will help our Company to grow strongly. At present, we have ready capital and a variety of channels to raise funds and is standing ready to expand our investment and to engage in mergers and acquisitions of companies with high potential in order to reach our target of achieving 10,000 million baht in revenue in the next five years,” Mr. Charvanin concluded.
